Flex Vacation Leave + Vacation Reimbursements

We encourage vacations, by paying for them.

We don’t need scientists to tell us that vacation is good for morale.

They did anyway.

Flex Vacation Leave.

At The Phillips Group, we believe people do their best work when they have the opportunity to rest, recharge, and spend meaningful time away from the office. That’s why we offer a flexible vacation leave program built on trust, accountability, and teamwork rather than rigid accrual schedules.

Instead of traditional vacation banks, eligible employees may request time away as needed, subject to manager approval, scheduling considerations, workload demands, and overall team coordination. We encourage employees to take meaningful time off throughout the year while remaining mindful of client responsibilities and busy season commitments.

Our goal is to create a culture where vacation is viewed as an important part of long-term health, sustainability, and work-life balance, not something employees feel discouraged from using. Flex Vacation Leave is designed to support responsible flexibility while continuing to provide exceptional service to our clients and maintaining strong collaboration within the team.

The problem with most “Unlimited Paid Time Off” policies is that they don’t actually encourage vacation; often, they do the opposite, making employees feel like they can’t go on vacation because they don’t know how much time to request off.

So we poured ourselves a frosty glass of nitro cold brew coffee, right from the tap in the kitchen, and sat down to fix this problem. The solution? Instead of just making paid time off “available”, we would encourage it by reimbursing our team members for their vacation expenses.

Vacation Reimbursement.

Every year, we set aside 1% of our annual revenue for the Vacation Reimbursement Program, which is distributed among eligible employees through a tenure-based share system tied to months worked during the qualifying year. The more productive the company is, the more funds are available for reimbursements.

This program is designed to reimburse employees for personal vacation expenses incurred while traveling away from home, including items such as airfare, lodging, cruises, ground transportation, and vacation activities. Employees submit reimbursement requests after travel has been completed, and approved reimbursements are paid through payroll up to each employee’s available reimbursement balance.

At The Phillips Group, we believe time away from work matters. Rested, fulfilled people build stronger teams, stronger relationships, and better experiences for our clients, which is why we intentionally invest in helping our employees take meaningful vacations.

A workplace benefit so unique, it was featured in Inc. magazine’s May/June 2023 issue.
